What is Ladder Golf? It is a terrific new alternative to horseshoes and croquet and some of the other more "traditional" outdoor games. It is really not like golf at all except that you play with golf balls. It is competitive and fun and children and adults of almost any age can play. At this point, the only negative is being able to find a local dealer of the game, or waiting for it to be shipped to you.

Equipment that you will need for Ladder Golf:

1. The ladder: this is an upright ladder with three steps on it. The legs of the ladder and the base are made of wood while the steps are made of metal.

2. The bolas: these are the balls. Two golf balls of the same color are connected with a short piece of rope driven into the center of the ball. You will need at least 2 different colors of bolas to play ladder golf.

3. The carrying case: Although this is not necessary, it will be something that you will probably want so that you can take the Ladder Golf game with you and also store it when you are not playing.

How to play Ladder Golf:

Each player needs 3 bolas of the same color-but every player must have a different color from the other players.

The toss line is 5 paces from the ladder. Paces are used so that the distance for children will be shorter.

Every player tosses 3 times in every round. Who tosses first in Ladder Golf is decided by a coin toss.

The player can toss the bola in any way they choose as long as they only toss one bola at a time and do not cross the toss line. The bola can bounce before it goes on the ladder. The player must toss all three bolas before the next player tosses.

Ladder Golf Scoring:

1 point for the bottom step

2 points for the middle step

3 points for the top step

The round winner gets to go first the next round.

The winner of Ladder Golf is the person who gets exactly 21 points first. If they go over, they go back to the point total of the previous round and try again. If two people tie at 21, then the rounds continue until one player has 2 more points than the other.

Players are encouraged to knock other players' bolas off the ladder. You cannot touch another person when they are tossing but you can make as much noise as you want.

Ladder golf costs around sixty dollars for a basic set. It is a fun game with lots of possibilities for family reunions, picnics, office parties and other activities. If you want a change of pace give this new game a try.

Hi. I've been playing frisbee with an ultimate frisbee my whole life. I am very good at freestyle frisbee, I can throw very well and whatnot. Well today I finally tried frisbee golf for the first time with my family. I did extremely well, and I really enjoyed it. I plan on doing it weekly as a hobby. So, of course I want my own disc(s). I am 14 btw. I want nice, nice frisbees. So, any frisbee golf experts, tell me, what type do I want? Driver? Putter? Mid Range? All around? And I want nice quality and sort of kool looking ones. So, any help? Oh and btw, the courses around my house are small, rarely consist of a par 5. So do I need a driver? Please Help! Thanks so much!

Does everyone remember playing this game back in grade school? My guess is that it's gotten to be a big deal again, ever since the movie with Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller. But it's weird: back when I was young, there seemed to be a few different variations of it, with one of them being called "Trench". Let's begin:

I'll skip the version of the one they played in the movie and move right into what we called Trench. It was basically very similar to Vince's version, except that when you got hit by the ball, you went to the OTHER side of the court (on the other side of the opposing team) and were in the "trench". You had a chance to get yourself back "IN" and back into the game if you could peg another person. But if you were still in the trench when there was only one person "IN", you were done. Game over.

I really liked that version, as it was a very deep and time-consuming game. It ended up taking up a whole gym hour at times.

The other way that we would play - the one we actually called "Dodgeball" was played against a wall. One person would hold the ball and be the "thrower" and about 25 feet away, everyone else would stand up against the wall. If the thrower hit you (below the head, of course), you were OUT, and couldn't come back in. But if the thrower threw it and you caught it, YOU got to throw. The goal in this version was to throw as much as you could.

All in all, these games were a total blast to play. And the game of Trench that I've addressed is just like the Nintendo version of "Dodgeball", back on the original Nintendo Entertainment System. Great game, too.

I know I can get them online. So, don't tell me that. I want to go to a store and actually hold the discs before I buy them. I want to hear from people who have actually gone into a store in or around Clarksville, TN and saw discs in there.

I have never been to your area but any Dicks Sporting Goods or Play It Again Sports should carry them. Also if you know of any tournaments going on you can normally buy them on the last day around award time.

Does throwing frisbee golf discs on concrete diminish the distance or accuracy of the disk?

I have a star orc that i just bought and played great with it the first day. then me and some friends threw some frisbees in a parking lot one day and i noticed that the edges were kindev scratched and cut in some places...i was wondering if this can cause the frisbee to act differently or lose some of its distance?

Yes, it will make it throw differently.

No, it will not lose distance.

Throwing it a while on concrete is equal to playing many rounds with the disc on the course. As discs wear they are more likely to turn right (assuming right hand, backhand) and glide a little more. Many times discs become more desirable as they have aged some. This is the reason many players carry multiple discs of the same mold in various states of wear.
