Have you ever passed a group of guys running around in the woods throwing Frisbees and wondered what the hell are these people doing? Well believe it or not they are playing a new and upcoming sport, Disk Golf. When I first learned of Disk golf I thought what is so fun about trampling threw the woods and playing with a Frisbee? Then I went for the first time and I have been an avid player for the past 7 years.

A friend of mine talked me into playing and I found that it was a tremendous workout, fun and best of all it was free! I went to a local sporting goods store spent $15 on a driver and a putter (different disks are designed for distances). The minute I entered the coarse the woods reeked of patchouli and I saw the hippies running ramped throwing Frisbees. The rules were simple just like regular golf. Most coerces all holes are par 3's, which means for you non-golfers that if you make it on the first throw it's an eagle (-2), second shot a birdie (-1), on the third shot it's a par (even), 4th shot is a bogey (+1), double bogey (+2), etc. There are 18 holes and each hole has a basket that you attempt to make your disk into. Keep track of your score after every hole. For example, if I shot a +1, even, +2, and a -1 on the first 4 holes than my score going into the 5th hole is a +2, which would be 2 over par.

The terrain depends on where you play because every coarse is different, but no matter the coarse you will get a great workout while having a blast. You're walking on flat terrain, rocky areas, up hills and down hills it's so much walking and tossing of the disk that you can burn 500 calories by the time you finish 18 holes! Another great part about this sport is that unlike football or basketball Disk Golf does not involve any running or physical contact, it's a sport for hippies and aging people like myself.

One last tip; don't get discouraged the first few times if you don't shoot so well just think about the 500 calories your burning and that almost every muscle in your body is being exercised while having fun, for free.

PEOPLE IN HOUSTON TEXAS PLEASE READ!!!!?

Okay, so, my boyfriend is a truck driver for Schneider National and is looking for a disc golf course near 1415 Penn City Road( The Schneider operating center).

I cannot find any addresses to mapquest from his location to these parks.

If anyone knows if their are any disc golf courses near 1415 Penn City Road, please let me know! If you can, please provide the address, so I can give him details.

Is the sidearm throw in disc golf efficient?

I just started playing disc golf this year. I love the sport. My only problem is, i feel like I'm losing out when i throw sidearm (Very bad at overhand, and don't like the feel of it). I feel like my throws aren't as good as my friends who throw overhand, nor as accurate. Are sidearm throwers losing out?

It definitely has it's uses. The best thing would be to start out with what is most comfortable for you. Get good at that and then work on the other types of throws as you gain in experience. If you ever have a chance to play or watch some pros you will see that they do not stick to one particular type of shot and use backhand,sidearm,overhand and other types of throws.

frolicking aka disc(frisbee) golf help?

hey people, i have been into frolfing for a while now but yet to get any discs...well i have a driver from a friend but nothing else. I noticed that there are bags available to buy. Why do they hold so many discs? don't only need about three? If you need more, what is there and why do you need them?

I carry about 10 to 14 discs depending on the course and the weather.

Some discs do better than others in wind or wet conditions.

If you are playing on an open course, you disc selection may be different than when playing in the woods and shooting through tunnels.

Some discs fly straighter than others, yet, sometimes you need to curve your shot around a tree or other obstacle.

If you are just starting, get a putter, an approach, a mid range, a fairway driver, and a driver.

I like:

Putter - Innova Aviar
Approach - Innova Aero, Discraft Breeze
Midrange - Innova Coyote, Discraft Glide
Faiway Driver - Innova Leopard, Quest T-Bone
Driver - Quest Scream DT, Innova Roadrunner, Gateway Diablo DT

You will find that each disc will behave a little differently. Pick one of the above and learn to throw it, then work on the others.

Oh yeah, you need the big bag to carry the bar, chasers, and snacks.

What disc golf driver should i get?

I have had a beast and an orc and i got about 250 to 280 feet out of them but i am thinking about moving to one with a 13 speed like a Katana, Boss or Groove would that be a good idea or should i get something more like a wraith or destroyer. I throw right hand backhand.

When you play the game of cornhole there are many different terminologies that you might hear but not understand. It is important to understand the different terms that people may use so you can be hip on the game when you show up to the party. Here are a few terms that peoples use when tossing the cornhole bags.

You may have heard the terms air mail or swish in basketball when the ball is thrown and it doesn't touch the rim of the basketball hoop. When you throw the cornhole bags and they do not touch the board in any way this toss is also called the air mail and the swish. This is a great toss and one to stand proud of. When you score a swish or an air mail then you will get three points.

The ace or the cow pie are bags that only get you one point for the toss. When you throw the bag and it isn't anywhere near the hole on the board it is called the ace or the cow pie. This will only get you one point. You won't get a point if the bag is touching the ground in any way.

A slider is worth three points also. This type of cornhole toss is when you throw the bag and it slides across the board into the hole. This is usually considered a lucky shot but some people play this way. It is common for some throwers to toss the bag and intentionally slide the bag across the board into the hole.

The blocker is another term you may hear when you play the game of cornhole. This is an ace that lands directly in front of the holes on the cornhole boards. When someone throws a blocker it is only worth one point to you. However, the bag will not be moved from the board and it blocks everyone else's bags when it is their turn. The bag will not be removed and almost make it impossible to make a bag in the hole when you throw the bag with a blocker.

When you throw the cornhole bags at the cornhole boards there are many different terminologies you may hear when you play. These are important to know so you are not left out or you don't understand what the people are talking about. These terms include air mail or swish, ace, slider, and blocker.
