There are differences between disc golf discs you should understand if you are planning to make an impact in the sport. Simply grabbing a frisbee disc and throwing it may be fun for awhile but you won't make much impression on your rivals.

A disc golf set is like your golf club set in traditional golf. Clubs for driving, approach shots, chipping and putting. In disc golf, it's no different except the tool you're using to make the shot is different.

Let's narrow the shot selection down to four. In disc golf you would need a:

- Distance driver

- Fairway driver

- Mid-range

- Putt & approach

Let's take a look at each one individually. Each of the discs mentioned above have a role to play and when you use them as a team on each hole you play and really practice using them individually you will take your game to another level and start to tear up disc golf courses.

Disc Golf Discs

#1. Distance drivers are like your driving woods. They are designed to extract maximum distance from your "tee-off" efforts. Just remember to gain the most distance quite often it has nothing to do with the strength of the throw but more to do with technique.

#2. Fairway drivers are often misunderstood by traditional golfers and in a sense, they are also under utilized by disc golfers. Fairway drivers are great tools when you want to get some accuracy going in your game and not only that, they will get you distance as well. If you aren't using your fairway driver disc enough then go and practice with it...it will add a new dimension to your game.

#3. Mid range discs are like your irons. They can cover a variety of distances from long to medium approach shots and are probably the most used disc in your disc bag.

#4. The putt and approach disc is like the final relay runner and it's the one that takes you home. Just like each of the above, the putt and approach is a skill all on it's own and needs to be practiced just as much as the longer hitting discs.

There are two other discs we haven't mentioned but this article is for serious players who are serious about improving their game. Specialty discs are more old school and will often be used in unique situations while recreational dics are just that - for having fun but don't underestimate their effectiveness to sharpen up your skills even when you are in fun mode.

DISC GOLF: where can I get info on how to putt better? any videos?

I have been playing for years but can't get good at putting. RIGHT, LEFT, UP, DOWN !!!! It's driving me crazy. This is the only part of my game I need to improve. Disc golf is a game played with a Frisbee or disc instead of a ball. The object of the game is very similar to traditional golf or "ball golf" as disc golfers call it. The golfer tries to get the disc into an elevated metal basket in the fewest number of throws. The sport has gone international and courses can be found in many different countries. There is also a petition to make it an Olympic sport.

Disc golf was recognized and formalized in the 70's. Since then many courses have popped up all over the United States. Most of the courses are free to play and unlike traditional golf there are no tee times. Disc golf is a great sport because it promotes good health and does not require a lot of money to start playing. You can buy a disc or even play with a Frisbee from your garage. More experienced players like to buy discs that allow the golfer to throw further and harder than a traditional Frisbee allows. There are several types of discs that one can use while disc golfing.

There are drivers, putters, mid-range, and specialty discs. All discs also have different speeds in which they can travel with the drivers being the highest speed and the putters being the slowest.

All discs are not created equal so check out the plastics, ratings, and design of each disc to ensure that it will work properly for you. If you are a first time player, pick a few starter discs that will be easier to throw. Best starter kit for frisbee golf?(Disc golf?

I am new to frisbee golf and am wandering if I should just buy a lot of 7 or 8 discs off of ebay or if I have to buy a special kit? I understand there are drivers putters etc. So if I buy random discs I will not have drivers mids and putters. I am looking for well priced quality discs and your oppinion on the ebay Idea. Thanks.

I would get the discs at a store. You can visually inspect the edge of the disc to be sure it is not worn out or chipped.

If you are just starting, get a putter, an approach, a mid range, a fairway driver, and a driver.

Putter - Innova Aviar
Approach - Innova Aero, Discraft Breeze
Midrange - Innova Coyote, Discraft Glide
Faiway Driver - Innova Leopard, Quest T-Bone

You will find that each disc will behave a little differently. Pick one of the above and learn to throw it, then work on the others.

I am only 14 but am very interested in the game of disc golf. I thought about the Innova Disc Golf 3 Disc Set. But i have heard mixed reviews. I am wondering if I should buy the set or buy individual discs. Recommendations for beginner discs would be very appreciated and tips on what to buy and not to buy would also be appreciated. Get an Innova Valkyrie for your driver. It's stable that you can continue to throw it after you figure out your technique and continue to throw for more distance.

Get a Discraft Buzz for your mid range. It's all you'll ever need for a mid range.

Get an Innova Aviar for a putter. You'll be able to use that for some of your longer putts also. Finding a putter you're happy with is hard to do, it's a trial basis.

When buying the best dirt bike, consider the engine and
