What disc golf driver should i get?

I have had a beast and an orc and i got about 250 to 280 feet out of them but i am thinking about moving to one with a 13 speed like a Katana, Boss or Groove would that be a good idea or should i get something more like a wraith or destroyer. I throw right hand backhand.

The Cliff Stephens Disc Golf Course in Clearwater, FL is located about 20 minutes away from the Tampa, FL airport, making it an ideal destination for fellow disc golf travelers headed to the Sunshine State. This beautifully maintained disc golf course features well-marked concrete tee boxes, a number of water hazards, and some quirky surprises along the way. While this may not be the most challenging course in the country, it is certainly one of the best experiences I have had in my travels so far...just watch out for the lightning!

At first glance you will realize that this is an extremely tight course. Holes are placed very close to one another. As a result there is not a whole lot of walking during your round. Depending on your perspective this could be a positive or a negative (if you spend as much time online as I do maybe its the latter). Each hole has two concrete tee boxes with excellent signage pointing out the general hole location. Most holes as Cliff Stephens Disc Golf Course are straight shots that should be an easy 3 for experiences players. Distances are mostly short...in the 300′ - 350′ range (except for the long 18th). A good stable driver (such as my newly purchased Discraft XL) could be your best friend here.

Naturally, the Cliff Stephens Disc Golf Course is not a breeze to play. Just about every hole features either a thick grouping of trees or a water hazard. A bad drive could leave you making the decision to lay up onto the fairway, or try to cut through several hazards. Hole number 5 is a good example of how important the placement of your drive can be. You could easily waste two strokes trying to cut through trees if you don't land in a favorable spot. As far as challenging water hazards go, look no further than hole #16 which features an island green. It can easily be reached with a medium distance drive. However, it will definitely test your mettle (I would not want to lose a brand new disc).

On a related note my Mom, Girlfriend, and I struck up a conversation with a young man who was snorkeling for lost discs in the various ponds. He did not seem to mind the posted "DANGER: ALLIGATOR" signs. I can only hope he was getting hazard pay on his eBay postings.

As previously mentioned, the course ends on a high note, allowing you to let loose a cannon of a drive on #18. The fairway is WIDE OPEN and forgiving. You will definitely have fun letting loose and pulling out your longest, least accurate driver. It might even take you a couple long drives to get within putting range.

Throughout your experience at Cliff Stephens Disc Golf Course the one feature you will probably notice most is the diversity that is found from hole to hole. No two holes are exactly the same. Each features a memorable hole location, hazard, or quirk. Hole #9 for example has you drive over a wooded retaining wall that is about waist high. My girlfriend Sherri had the shot of the day on this hole, bouncing her Discraft Avenger SS driver right off the top of the wall and inches away from the basket.

To sum things up...if you are ever in the Tampa/Clearwater area you should to check out the Cliff Stephens Disc Golf Course. Check that...you NEED to visit the Tampa/Clearwater area to come play this course. It is absolutely beautifully maintained, expertly designed, and a whole lot of fun.

What is better? Innova Disc golf discs or Discraft?

This is really just a matter of opinion, all the companies have very good discs. I prefer Discraft but that's probably only because that was what i started playing with and got use to playing with. However, i definitely keep a few innova (especially the champion and new star) in my bag as well as my always trustworthy gateway wizard.

The Moral: Discraft Rules, but give the other guys a chance every once in a while.

How to dye Innova Disc Golf Discs? and How to do it so you don't get bleeds?

I want to make my disc golf discs more custom. I have see a lot of cool dye jobs, and really dont have a clue how they did it. I was thinking about making my design and then sprying it with vinyl dye rather then using RIT and dipping it. I have also read everything I could find and tried a lot of the ways that others have tried. Thoes methods dont seem to work as well as what I have see done by the pro's. Also what is the best way to mask the disc so I do not get any bleeds?

The Discraft Buzzz was the first golf disc I ever owned. Purchased based on a friend's recommendation, the Buzzz has become my most dependable golf disc. I use it on short holes as a driver, for mid-range shots, and as a back-up putter in extreme circumstances. My bag is never complete without at least one Discraft Buzzz.

What makes this disc so great is the uncanny consistency it brings to the table. The Pro-D plastic version is about the straightest flying disc on the market. As it gets beat in the Pro-D Buzzz will take on understable flight characteristics, making it an ideal disc for anhyzer shots. I generally carry three Buzzz's in my bag, all at different levels of use. The newest one is the most stable, while the most "beat-in" disc is extremely understable. With multiple Pro-D Buzzz's I can execute almost any shot I require.

The Elite-X, Elite-Z, and ESP Buzzz models are just as consistent, with a slightly more stable flight pattern. These discs will hold a straight line for hundreds of feet before fading slightly to the left (for right-handers). After throwing literally dozens of mid-range disc molds, I have never encountered one as consistently straight and consistent as the Discraft Buzzz. These premium plastic molds will hold their outstanding flight characteristics for hundreds of rounds of disc golf.

The Buzzz could certainly be used for short drives (less than 300ft. for me), but it really shines for mid-range shots around 200ft. When I'm not quite sure which disc to grab out of my bag, I reach for my Buzzz. No other disc delivers such a consistent performance round after round.

In fact, it's become big business in a sense and when you consider the amount of real estate put aside to accommodate players you start to get an idea just how seriously players are taking their disc golf.

The only similarity to traditional golf is the concept and that incudes driving off, mid range and putt and approach shots. Throwing a frisbee suddenly takes on new meaning when you realize you have an opportunity to gain recognition for it.

For beginners coming into the sport the temptation to try out lots of discs is great but the best advice you can get if new to the sport is resist it and practice with one disc until you have a feel for it.

Living in a retirement community, the Currie Ezip 1000 solved one our biggest problems. We live quite close to many of the community's destinations, but not so close that we could walk to reach them. Many of our neighbors have golf carts, but the many features of the Ezip 1000 made it a better choice for us.

Currie Technologies is noted for their "cutting edge" battery technology. This particular unit has Three, 12 volt batteries in it's battery pack. This allows for approximately 40 minutes of continuous riding time, which suited our needs perfectly!

We are limited on space, so the folding handle bars are a real plus. It is also fun to drive, with a twist grip throttle and front and rear disc brakes.

Thanks to the Currie Ezip 1000, we don't have to drive our car for our many short trips, and we can have fun, too!

Can you buy disc golf discs directly from the discraft factory or do you have to order them online, which i know you can, but if i'm able to, i'd rather buy at the factory. Any ideas?

Ways to find a disk in a river?

My friend threw two of my disc golf discs in a river today. The river is about three feet deep, and I really want to get them back. I have waders and need to find them. What can i do/use to help me find them?

"Disc Error" Displays On My PS2

My PS2 is not working. My PS2 repeatedly displays the "Disc Error" screen. My PS2 is broken. I continue to reset my console but despite my efforts it still won't work. My games won't play at all. I cannot afford to buy a new Playstation 2 or even purchase a used Playstation 2 system.

PS2 Games Won't Play!

My PS2 has been abused and mistreated. This valuable form of entertainment has been inadvertently dropped, bumped and dragged. Many of our favorite games would not play or load when inserted in the PS2 much to our frustration. The problem started out the with the older games, but now even the newer games would not play. The popular error message "Disc Read Error" was the dreaded outcome every time we attempted to play a game. None of the games would play in my console.

Where's My Easy Button to Fix My PS2?

I was disappointed. I researched and compared prices. My research only confirmed I was in no financial position to purchase a brand new PS2 system. I hoped I could afford to purchase a used system, but the price tag for the used system was still too expensive to fit in my tight budget. During my research, I read about several simple repairs to fix my PS2 detailed in a PS2 repair guide. I cheered up a bit after learning that information. I made a note of the information for later use. I was determined I would attempt to fix my PS2 before resorting to purchasing another system. The thought of purchasing a PS2 repair guide was definitely more affordable then my other more expensive option. After all, purchasing another PS2 system would have to be delayed indefinitely until I was able to afford it.

Most PS2 Systems Can Be Repaired

I was relieved to know that most PS2 systems can be repaired with simple tools and a screwdriver. I hoped I could repair my PS2 and avoid paying more than necessary. The repairs were very simple, straightforward and inexpensive. The fact that the repairs required no technical or mechanical skills was the most notable feature of the guide that persuaded me that the guide was worth a try if all else failed.

Common Disc Read Errors: Cause of Most PS2 Disc Read Errors

Disc read errors are caused when the disc whether it be a regular Playstation game, Playstation 2 game, compact disc or dvd can't be read by the Playstation 2 console. The laser in the console is unable to read the disc. The disc may possibly be scratched or dirty. The proper method to clean a disc is use a lint-free cloth made specifically for cleaning CD/DVD discs. Clean the disc starting from the innermost circle and wipe out to the edge in a straight line. Cleaning or wiping the disc in a circular motion or any other manner may create more scratches on the disc.

Bottom Line

I cleaned the dirty and scratched discs thoroughly. I had my fingers crossed that my problem would be solved by cleaning the discs, but my PS2 still displayed "Disc Error". I was disappointed but not willing to give up yet. Disc Golf and Frisbee Golf...is there a difference?

I know you can buy discs and play disc golf... and then others call it frisbee golf..is that because they're using an actual FRISBEE or is frisbee golf just "another name" for disc golf??

Herniated disc sufferers have traditionally had the treatment options of medication, physical therapy, spinal injections, and/or surgery, and because of the limited effectiveness of these approaches, many simply have had to learn to live with the pain. But a new option is now available and while not appropriate or effective for every person with a herniated disc, it does represent a huge leap in effectiveness and safety in treating herniated discs.

Spinal decompression is a new form of spinal traction. Regular traction has been used for a number of years to treat herniated discs, unfortunately with poor results in many cases, and with symptom aggravation occurring in some cases. The problem with regular traction is that it activates the body's muscle guarding response and can trigger muscle spasm, which produces pain and may even result in increased pressure on herniated discs.

Spinal decompression has solved these problems though. Although still technically traction machines, true spinal decompression systems pull very slowly and gradually in order to keep the muscles relaxed and avoid triggering spasm. In addition, the more advanced of the spinal decompression systems also have computer-controlled motors and have sensors to measure the body's resistance to treatment. If the body's muscles begin to contract and resist the treatment, the system will immediately reduce its pull and the body's muscles will relax again. The most advanced of these systems can respond to what the body is doing in an amazing 1/17th of a second. Since the body's reactions take place in approximately 1/5th of a second, these advanced spinal decompression systems can modify treatment before the muscles can spasm, allowing for comfortable herniated disc relief.

This ability to avoid the body's muscle spasm response allows spinal decompression systems to dramatically lower the pressure within a herniated disc. In fact, disc pressure is actually dropped into the negative pressure range, creating a suction that pulls the bulging disc material back towards the center of the disc and away from sensitive nerves. An additional effect is that nutrients and fluid are pulled into the disc to stimulate disc healing. Over time and repeated treatments, the herniated disc material is pulled back in, and the healing of the disc provides stabilization of the outer wall of the disc to prevent further bulging.

The frequency and duration of spinal decompression treatment will vary depending on the age and condition of the patient, the severity of the herniated disc, and the number of herniated discs. Spinal decompression can be used in both the lumbar and cervical spine very effectively.

Statistically, spinal decompression with the more advanced machines, and with appropriate patient selection has a success rate of 80-90%, and of those who are successfully treated, the results hold up well long-term in most cases. Given the success rate and the fact that the most common side-effect is some temporary post-treatment muscle soreness, spinal decompression is often the best option in herniated disc treatment.

Unfortunately, there has been a tendency toward overly aggressive advertising and hype, and in some cases, inappropriate application of spinal decompression in recent years by some health care practitioners. This has led to unrealistic expectations by patients and actions by regulatory agencies on advertising claims, leading to a damaged reputation for spinal decompression. While spinal decompression does represent a major advance in the treatment of herniated discs, it is not a cure-all, it is not 100% effective, and it is not appropriate for every patient.

Spinal decompression, when used appropriately, does produce enough improvement and disc healing in the vast majority of cases to allow patients to resume normal lives and return to most activities (even playing golf or tennis and working in the yard), but it does not restore a herniated disc to 100% normal. No treatment can. Even the still-experimental disc replacement surgery does not restore the spine to a normal condition and future back problems following disc replacement are to be expected. Overwork, poor posture, or failure to use good bending and lifting techniques can set the stage for a recurrence of disc problems no matter how good the results of treatment are initially.

With appropriate patient selection and by giving patients realistic expectations, spinal decompression providers can supply a very safe and effective treatment option for those with a herniated disc.

I live near a beautiful park and, every day, I see groups of people enjoying themselves with what has become a favorite recreation here in my neighborhood -- the frisbee. Their fascination has led me to do my own kind of research into this frisbee craze. It's really quite interesting.

The frisbee, as we all know, is the most common name for those flying discs or flying saucers. They are usually made of plastic and are about 20 to 25 centimeters of 8 to 10 inches in diameter. These frisbees are designed to fly aerodynamically when someone throws them in the air with rotation and they can be caught by hand. Playing with a frisbee is like playing catch with a rubber ball, although frisbees are much more fun.

There are many types of frisbees available in the supermarkets and other commercial venues. There are disc golf discs, which are smaller but denser than your typical frisbee, plus they are made to follow a particular flight profile that can increase or decrease their stability and distance. Once people realized that dogs just love chasing those flying frisbees down, they designed special discs made up of more pliable material that are more resistant to the bite of a dog and which can prevent injuries to the dog that are often associated with more rigid materials. After that, naturally the next frisbee craze was in the form of disc dog competitions which tested the disc-catching skills of dogs. There are also now ring-like discs that are similar to Saturn's rings and these are known as Aerobies and they normally fly farther than the regular frisbee. The latest frisbee incarnation takes the form a lit flying disc which is growing more and more popular for evening and night time play. It's called a flashflight disc and players can enjoy playing with them even when the sun goes down.

What are the best discs i need to add to my disc golf collection?

Im an amateur disc golfer and i love it. I'm just wondering what you guys think are the best discs. I currently throw a champion monster for my drives and an aerobie arrow for my putt and approach.

If you're throwing a Champion Monster I'm guessing you throw sidearm. That disc is not the easiest thing to throw backhanded. The question to me really should be more about what the best discs are for you to throw more than just the best discs in general. One person may rant and rave about the Roadrunner, but if you go to sidearm that it probably will not come even close to do what you were hoping it to do - especially in comparison to a Monster.

If you want a faster disc and don't mind the fat rim, I would give any of these discs a try: from Innova: Destroyer, XCaliber, Boss; from Discraft: Nuke, Predator. Those would be great discs for a sidearm thrower to try out. I agree with the other comment that a Wraith is an excellent disc as well, but it is not going to hyzer/curve back as strongly as your Monster would. It's a great disc if you want to backhand as well though. The Wraith is probably one of the steadiest sellers in my store.

As far as putters, I go with Gateway plastic. I prefer the Voodoo, but their Wizard is by far their most popular putter. The Wizard has a very similar mold to Innova's KC Pro Aviar and Star Aviar Driver. It's also very similar to Discraft's Focus. Putters really come down to a matter of feel. Most of them are designed to be straight fliers, so your opinion becomes based more off of how the disc feels as opposed to strictly flight characteristics. You can never go wrong with an Innova Aviar, a Discraft Challenger, or a Gateway Wizard. Those are great putters to try out.
