There are differences between disc golf discs you should understand if you are planning to make an impact in the sport. Simply grabbing a frisbee disc and throwing it may be fun for awhile but you won't make much impression on your rivals.

A disc golf set is like your golf club set in traditional golf. Clubs for driving, approach shots, chipping and putting. In disc golf, it's no different except the tool you're using to make the shot is different.

Let's narrow the shot selection down to four. In disc golf you would need a:

- Distance driver

- Fairway driver

- Mid-range

- Putt & approach

Let's take a look at each one individually. Each of the discs mentioned above have a role to play and when you use them as a team on each hole you play and really practice using them individually you will take your game to another level and start to tear up disc golf courses.

Disc Golf Discs

#1. Distance drivers are like your driving woods. They are designed to extract maximum distance from your "tee-off" efforts. Just remember to gain the most distance quite often it has nothing to do with the strength of the throw but more to do with technique.

#2. Fairway drivers are often misunderstood by traditional golfers and in a sense, they are also under utilized by disc golfers. Fairway drivers are great tools when you want to get some accuracy going in your game and not only that, they will get you distance as well. If you aren't using your fairway driver disc enough then go and practice with it...it will add a new dimension to your game.

#3. Mid range discs are like your irons. They can cover a variety of distances from long to medium approach shots and are probably the most used disc in your disc bag.

#4. The putt and approach disc is like the final relay runner and it's the one that takes you home. Just like each of the above, the putt and approach is a skill all on it's own and needs to be practiced just as much as the longer hitting discs.

There are two other discs we haven't mentioned but this article is for serious players who are serious about improving their game. Specialty discs are more old school and will often be used in unique situations while recreational dics are just that - for having fun but don't underestimate their effectiveness to sharpen up your skills even when you are in fun mode.

The Cliff Stephens Disc Golf Course in Clearwater, FL is located about 20 minutes away from the Tampa, FL airport, making it an ideal destination for fellow disc golf travelers headed to the Sunshine State. This beautifully maintained disc golf course features well-marked concrete tee boxes, a number of water hazards, and some quirky surprises along the way. While this may not be the most challenging course in the country, it is certainly one of the best experiences I have had in my travels so far...just watch out for the lightning!

At first glance you will realize that this is an extremely tight course. Holes are placed very close to one another. As a result there is not a whole lot of walking during your round. Depending on your perspective this could be a positive or a negative (if you spend as much time online as I do maybe its the latter). Each hole has two concrete tee boxes with excellent signage pointing out the general hole location. Most holes as Cliff Stephens Disc Golf Course are straight shots that should be an easy 3 for experiences players. Distances are mostly short...in the 300′ - 350′ range (except for the long 18th). A good stable driver (such as my newly purchased Discraft XL) could be your best friend here.

Naturally, the Cliff Stephens Disc Golf Course is not a breeze to play. Just about every hole features either a thick grouping of trees or a water hazard. A bad drive could leave you making the decision to lay up onto the fairway, or try to cut through several hazards. Hole number 5 is a good example of how important the placement of your drive can be. You could easily waste two strokes trying to cut through trees if you don't land in a favorable spot. As far as challenging water hazards go, look no further than hole #16 which features an island green. It can easily be reached with a medium distance drive. However, it will definitely test your mettle (I would not want to lose a brand new disc).

On a related note my Mom, Girlfriend, and I struck up a conversation with a young man who was snorkeling for lost discs in the various ponds. He did not seem to mind the posted "DANGER: ALLIGATOR" signs. I can only hope he was getting hazard pay on his eBay postings.

As previously mentioned, the course ends on a high note, allowing you to let loose a cannon of a drive on #18. The fairway is WIDE OPEN and forgiving. You will definitely have fun letting loose and pulling out your longest, least accurate driver. It might even take you a couple long drives to get within putting range.

Throughout your experience at Cliff Stephens Disc Golf Course the one feature you will probably notice most is the diversity that is found from hole to hole. No two holes are exactly the same. Each features a memorable hole location, hazard, or quirk. Hole #9 for example has you drive over a wooded retaining wall that is about waist high. My girlfriend Sherri had the shot of the day on this hole, bouncing her Discraft Avenger SS driver right off the top of the wall and inches away from the basket.

To sum things up...if you are ever in the Tampa/Clearwater area you should to check out the Cliff Stephens Disc Golf Course. Check that...you NEED to visit the Tampa/Clearwater area to come play this course. It is absolutely beautifully maintained, expertly designed, and a whole lot of fun.

What is better? Innova Disc golf discs or Discraft?

This is really just a matter of opinion, all the companies have very good discs. I prefer Discraft but that's probably only because that was what i started playing with and got use to playing with. However, i definitely keep a few innova (especially the champion and new star) in my bag as well as my always trustworthy gateway wizard.

The Moral: Discraft Rules, but give the other guys a chance every once in a while.

San Diego has one of the best climates and weather of any state in the US. It is typically sunny and in the 70's year round making it a great place to enjoy outdoor activities and sports. This article will look into some of the great outdoor activities available in San Diego. It will look into all kinds of outdoor activities and sports like hiking, mountain biking and rock climbing to going to kayak rental to do some Oceanside sea kayaking in the Pacific. Other things will be to do some fishing off a pier or see the migration of the gray whales. Whether you want to increase your heart rate through hard exercise, see amazing things in nature or get the thrill of a lifetime through an adrenaline pumping activity, it is all in San Diego to do.

For those people that love to be outdoors and have a great appreciation for nature but do not necessarily want to work up a sweat doing it, there are a few great things to do. One thing is to do Pier fishing. There are many long piers in California and San Diego is no exception. Just be sure to get a fishing permit first. Another fun thing to do is go whale watching. This area is one of the points where the gray whales go on their migration to Baja California where they give birth to their calves in the warmer water.

If you are looking to get some exercise and enjoy participating in some adventure type of sports and activities, then head to the nearby Mission Trails Regional Park. This is an urban park with that is enormous and has exciting mountain bike trails as well as wonderful hiking and rock climbing spots. If you are in good shape, test yourself by attempting to hike up Cowles Mountain for a breathtaking view at the top as your reward. Another fun sport that is not as physically challenging is to go to Morley Field Disc golf and let your frisbees fly on this great disc golf course.

If you are visiting San Diego and do not normally live near the water, you may want to participate in some water activities. They have a couple of surfing schools located here and some are specialized to teach just kids or women only providing those groups with a less intimidating experience to try to surf for the first time. Another fun activity is to rent a kayak and do some exploring of the area in that. If you have never gone sea kayaking, then you may want to take a class or go on a group tour to feel a bit more comfortable.

If you are an adrenaline junkie who also likes to do outdoorsy kind of activities, then maybe you want to head to the top of the cliffs that overlook the Pacific Ocean for a great thrill. You can go hang gliding or parasailing off some of the cliffs with a business that ensures your safety and fun.

If you want to guarantee disaster, huge expense and seriously

challenge your health in your trade show marketing, follow this

simple formula. Although these top 10 tips are somewhat humorous,

they are unfortunately based on real-life observations I have made in

many trade shows.

1) Think you know everything, even if you've never attended a travel

trade show. You're convinced travel trade show marketing is for you

because everyone else seems to do it. Plus you're not sure what other

tourism marketing to do.

2) Don't do any pre-show promotions to regional customers and

prospects. You don't want to spend any more money because your

cheap or max'd out your credit card. You figure it's the trade show

management's job to get people to the show.

3) Never talk to show management and don't read the manual before

the show. You believe that all they want to do is try to sell you more

space or inform you about an additional union cost they forgot to tell you

about.

4) Design and build the booth yourself in your spare time. Proudly place

your company name across the middle of your display in large 4" type;

"Joe's Fun Trips". Load up the booth and table with dozen's of small

photos your 7-year old niece took with "Brownie camera.

5) Don't talk with your staff or create show goals. Put your old Uncle

Albert in the booth since he knows your region and trips better then

anyone, even though he's hard of hearing and shy. Don't have or

practice a strategy on how to approach prospects.

6) Arrive just in time for the show because you want to avoid extra

lodging costs. Carry and move all your booth supplies and avoid the

expense and hassle of shipping and handling.

7) Consider everyone in the show a prospect. Try to coral everyone

that's walking by. Tell everyone what's better about your trips and why

everyone else's stinks.

Give everyone several of your expensive new 4-color brochures. You

invested the majority of your tourism promotional money into the new

brochures and you want to make sure everyone has one.

9) You and old Uncle Albert will work the weeklong booth yourselves.

Don't drink water. Eat tradeshow concessionaire fast food exclusively.

Attends late night hospitality suites, drink all the free beer you can and

party with associates every night. Forget your breath mints.

10) Jump into operations when your get back to the office. Wait for all

the calls and new clients from your travel trade show marketing to come

pouring in.

What are ten things every disc golf course should have?

I'm trying to make some improvements to an existing course and am looking for some ideas. I would like to make the tee boxes nicer, etc.

That's a good question!
Personally, I think that there are only a few things that can make or break a disc golf course, but it's all about preference, so here are MY suggestions:

1. Clear and Concise Signage! All too many Disc Golf Courses have nothing but potential, but getting lost along the way can be VERY frustrating. I'm there to play Disc Golf, not to go on a wild goose chase. Signs should be simple yet informative and it wouldn't hurt to have one at the basket that says - NEXT TEE --->!

2. Multiple pin placements. Baskets that are in the same place every time you go out can get a little monotonous. Varying the course, even slightly, keeps it fresh and entices players to keep coming back to see how the course has changed. On the other hand, too many placements, or multiple baskets on the same hole can introduce confusion - not fun.

3. Replace "bad" O.B. with "good" O.B. "Out of bounds" areas should penalize players, NOT empty their disc bags! O.B. in residential areas is bad news! Most Disc Golfers will agree; it SUCKS trying to retrieve discs from surly homeowners who are tired of shagging discs out of their backyards. Nature presents TONS of options for O.B. Water is an excellent choice if done properly. It should present itself without being defining feature and should NEVER come into play on every hole. Risky is OK, dire is NOT.

4. Clearly defined tee areas. Tees don't have to be fancy. You can spend a small fortune on concrete and rubber and they DO require some maintenance. A clearly defined "natural" tee area can make a hole a pleasure or a punishment. In addition, if you don't like where it is, you CAN change it and you won't have to take out a second in order to do so.

5. Maps, Maps, Maps! A good map of your course can be the MOST fundamental aspect of course design. It can serve a multitude of purposes. Advertising, event promotion, enticement, and navigation. Not only can a good map draw players to your course, it conveys a level of professionalism and lets players know that you are serious about your course AND it's design. There's NO better way to get course sponsors that to have a printed map with room for advertising!

Hmmmm... It all seems so simple. I hope my rhetoric helps you to develop your course so that it's everything you (and your fellow players) dreamed it could be!

Paintball is a game played up of many players or teams. It can be played indoors or out, with as few as two people or as many as 500. Paintball is played at designated fields, back yards or even in the woods. A game can last as little as 5 minutes or hours with all depending on one to take something, find something, or to just be the last person not marked.

Depending on the location of where you play, the strategy of your game will vary from being quiet and sneaky and choosing your shots carefully, to being loud, fast, and shooting constantly. Paintball is a competitive sport played like any other competitive sport, to win. It is challenging game of tag, hide-and-seek or even capture-the-flag. Being you shoot at other people and they shoot at you, paintball requires safety equipment to be worn such as goggles, special clothing and etc.

An essential part of paintball is the paintball itself. As in tennis, the ball is the main element of a paintball game. But unlike a tennis game, paintball has dozens, often hundreds, of "balls" in play at any one time. As the name implies, these balls are actually tiny containers of paint.

Paintballs have a really simple construction. They're actually a lot like bath-oil beads. They are made of colored liquid enclosed in a gelatin shell and are available in a variety of colors. Paintball are also non-toxic, biodegradable and are water soluble.

Basically, a paintball is like a small water balloon, weighing only a few grams. The shell holds up if you handle it or drop it from a short distance. When you shoot a paintball from a gun, however, it bursts on impact and leaves large splatter of paint.

The job of the paintball gun, or as many call a marker, is to shoot the paintball at a high rate of speed. In a standard gun, the propulsion system is compressed gas such as carbon dioxide, nitrogen or ordinary air and is stored in small or large tanks that can be attached to the gun. The paintball gun is also attached to a hopper, which holds the paintballs.

Maintaining safety in paintball is important to make the game safe. The power of paintball guns is strictly regulated. Guns in play are adjusted so that the maximum speed of the paintball is 300 feet per second. A paintball traveling at this speed is not likely to cause serious injury if it hits you, though it will sting and can leave a bruise. Also, since wind resistance starts slowing the paintball down as soon as it leaves the gun, it has a reduced impact when fired from a greater distance. Speeding paintballs can cause serious injury to the eyes and paintball players always wear protection.

In addition to playing paintball for recreational use, paintball is also part of military and police training. In terms of feel and handling, a paintball gun has little in common with an actual firearm, but paintball is still good training for combat situations. Mainly, it lets soldiers and police practice strategy and the fine art of not getting shot.

There are many paintball leagues around with American Paintball League being one of the largest in the paintball industry. Another paintball league is the National Professional Paintball League. There are the two main paintball leagues. Though they both pertain to paintball, each has their own set of rules for playing the sport.

Winter Park has so many outdoor activities to choose from,

If you are in search of fishing holes, you can wade 1,000

miles of streams, wander around 1,000 acres of high

mountain lakes, or troll 11,000 acres of reservoirs.

Rainbow, cutthroat, brown & brook trout can be found in

most of the rivers, while mackinaw and kokanee salmon

cruise the depths of the larger bodies of water. Having so

much water also provides ample opportunities for rafting,

canoeing or kayaking.

Music always sounds better with a backdrop like the

Continental Divide, and free music concerts can be found

just about everywhere in Winter Park all summer long.

Table tennis enthusiasts enjoy finding new and more challenging opponents to compete against. One place to turn is their local table tennis club. Clubs can be found in many communities around the globe. A search on the USATT website will point you in the right direction to a club near you. Most clubs have membership fees to help cover overhead such as building costs, staffing and administration costs, etc. Some clubs are open to members only while others are open to the public. Some require annual membership fees and some charge per activity.

It is important to decide which features matter most to you before joining a club. Do you want a club that is open to everyone or one that is a member only facility? Are you looking for a place for a fun pick-up game or do you want a club that is staffed with an employee who arranges matches between players with comparable skills? Do you want a professional coaching staff or a club for casual players? The type of club that is the best fit for your neighbor may not be the club that best meets your needs and expectations. It is always a good idea to research club options before signing up for a membership. Most clubs will permit you to visit as a guest so that you can decide whether or not the club is compatible with your table tennis life. If you do not find a club that meets your needs, consider starting a new one.

Most clubs provide a variety of training opportunities. Often, clubs hire experienced players to teach lessons or hold clinics at the club. Talented players who are interested in becoming coaches can train and become certified coaches at clubs offering these services. A number of clubs utilize robots for independent training sessions. Coaches and trainers might also use robots to repeatedly serve the ball in an exact way over and over again so that they can instruct the player on the best way to respond. Robot training sessions may run a half hour or full hour. Fees can range from a few dollars to $15 per session. Members may receive discounted rates.

Small clubs without major sponsorship or contributors may have minimal space and equipment. Often, it is the desire of these clubs to remain small and intimate but other times this is simply a starting point for newly formed clubs. Membership fees for junior and senior players are usually reduced. • The disc position of every shot after the tee shot is right behind the spot where your disc landed. Pick up the disc, take a stance, and throw your disc from this spot.
• Start your round with the hole designated as hole number one and finish the game following the specific order of holes as designated.

Do any of you play disc golf? Where, and what are the courses like near you?

We have a bunch around here. Some on old farms (families trying to keep the land in use ) and many narrowly wooded courses with little open space. I played in florida before and they were much more like a regular golf course. What are they like near you? Any water hazards? Pars?

I only have one.
I play all the time.
My best was... 54 strokes. I'm pretty good... getting near the basket on my first throw. I dont throw backhanded though... i do it another way. Theres one right next to the University of Maryland in college park. its fun.
