There are differences between disc golf discs you should understand if you are planning to make an impact in the sport. Simply grabbing a frisbee disc and throwing it may be fun for awhile but you won't make much impression on your rivals.

A disc golf set is like your golf club set in traditional golf. Clubs for driving, approach shots, chipping and putting. In disc golf, it's no different except the tool you're using to make the shot is different.

Let's narrow the shot selection down to four. In disc golf you would need a:

- Distance driver

- Fairway driver

- Mid-range

- Putt & approach

Let's take a look at each one individually. Each of the discs mentioned above have a role to play and when you use them as a team on each hole you play and really practice using them individually you will take your game to another level and start to tear up disc golf courses.

Disc Golf Discs

#1. Distance drivers are like your driving woods. They are designed to extract maximum distance from your "tee-off" efforts. Just remember to gain the most distance quite often it has nothing to do with the strength of the throw but more to do with technique.

#2. Fairway drivers are often misunderstood by traditional golfers and in a sense, they are also under utilized by disc golfers. Fairway drivers are great tools when you want to get some accuracy going in your game and not only that, they will get you distance as well. If you aren't using your fairway driver disc enough then go and practice with it...it will add a new dimension to your game.

#3. Mid range discs are like your irons. They can cover a variety of distances from long to medium approach shots and are probably the most used disc in your disc bag.

#4. The putt and approach disc is like the final relay runner and it's the one that takes you home. Just like each of the above, the putt and approach is a skill all on it's own and needs to be practiced just as much as the longer hitting discs.

There are two other discs we haven't mentioned but this article is for serious players who are serious about improving their game. Specialty discs are more old school and will often be used in unique situations while recreational dics are just that - for having fun but don't underestimate their effectiveness to sharpen up your skills even when you are in fun mode.

While still relatively unknown, disc golf is picking up steam in localities all around America and the World. With the help of dedicated promoters and several internet web sites, people of all ages are discovering the sport. Few activities will provide the experience of disc golf. Players get to exercise, spend time outdoors, and be with friends. Best of all, literally anyone can get started in disc golf for just a few dollars and a free afternoon.

While all you really need to play disc golf is a single disc (you can purchase these online or in sporting goods stores) and a local course, if you are serious about getting into the sport there are a few essential items you will need. First, and most importantly are the discs. Discs come in literally thousands of shapes, sizes, and colors. To get started you will need at least one driver, one mid-range, and one putter. Which discs you choose is completely up to you. However, as a general guideline you should look for discs that are designed to fly relatively straight. Every disc golf company has their own standards, but such discs are called "understable" in the disc golf community. Furthermore, you should look to purchase discs in light weights. Usually 150-165 grams are ideal for beginners, as they will tend to carry further.

Your driver will be used for your longest shots, generally from the tee pad. Drivers are small, thin, and designed to cut through the air quickly with little wind resistance. As a beginner, look for drivers that are designed for more accuracy than distance. As you become more comfortable driving you can upgrade to faster drivers.

Mid-Range discs are similar to irons in traditional golf. They are designed to help get you closer to the target. They can get you a medium amount of distance with more accuracy than a driver.

Finally, putters are obviously designed to get you into the target. They are generally thick with rounded edges. These are your most accurate discs. The good news is, you can purchase a putter, driver, or mid-range for about $8 - a great bargain compared to most other sports.

You may certainly choose to carry your discs in a backpack or bag. However, disc golfers usually carry specialized disc golf bags. A quick internet search will turn up a number of bags in all shapes and sizes. As a beginner you can usually get by with a small bag that holds about 10-12 discs. These will normally run about $15-$20.

After you purchase your discs and bag all you need to do is go out to your local course and have fun. Most states have a number of courses that are usually free to play. Remember, the more you play the better you will become. Throw different discs until you find the ones that are right for you. Once you are hooked on disc golf you will find it is a rewarding sport that you can play forever.

The Discraft Buzzz was the first golf disc I ever owned. Purchased based on a friend's recommendation, the Buzzz has become my most dependable golf disc. I use it on short holes as a driver, for mid-range shots, and as a back-up putter in extreme circumstances. My bag is never complete without at least one Discraft Buzzz.

What makes this disc so great is the uncanny consistency it brings to the table. The Pro-D plastic version is about the straightest flying disc on the market. As it gets beat in the Pro-D Buzzz will take on understable flight characteristics, making it an ideal disc for anhyzer shots. I generally carry three Buzzz's in my bag, all at different levels of use. The newest one is the most stable, while the most "beat-in" disc is extremely understable. With multiple Pro-D Buzzz's I can execute almost any shot I require.

The Elite-X, Elite-Z, and ESP Buzzz models are just as consistent, with a slightly more stable flight pattern. These discs will hold a straight line for hundreds of feet before fading slightly to the left (for right-handers). After throwing literally dozens of mid-range disc molds, I have never encountered one as consistently straight and consistent as the Discraft Buzzz. These premium plastic molds will hold their outstanding flight characteristics for hundreds of rounds of disc golf.

The Buzzz could certainly be used for short drives (less than 300ft. for me), but it really shines for mid-range shots around 200ft. When I'm not quite sure which disc to grab out of my bag, I reach for my Buzzz. No other disc delivers such a consistent performance round after round.

Dirtbagging is stripping camping or backpacking down to the essentials: fun and adventure. Just throw a few things in any old pack, and get out there. You don't need all that expensive camping and backpacking gear. Leave the extra clothes behind, sleep in a pile of leaves or next to a fire. Dirtbagging is keeping it simple and using your wits instead of your wallet.

Recipe For A Dirtbagging Trip

Take an old inflated rubber tube, a bivy sack made from garbage bags, and some snacks. Put them in an beat-up daypack, add a bus ride, a river, wild strawberries and a thunderstorm or two. Mix well and enjoy.

This particular dirtbagging trip was a float down the Boardman River in Michigan. I took the bus out of town, and had the driver drop me off on the side of the road, where the river passed under. The water is shallow, but fast here. The sun was shining when stepped into the cold current.

I had brought a few warm things to wear to bed instead of using a sleeping bag. I carried a small umbrella to use on the river and over my head at night. Altogether, I had maybe 10 pounds in the bundle on my lap as I floated down the river sitting in the tube, with my butt and my feet in the cold water. I had to navigate usking my hands as paddles.

The trout were surfacing everywhere and the deer were stepping back from the riverbank at the sight of me. Blue heron were hunting for fish in the shallows. A beaver slapped his tail against the water when he saw me. I floated for hours, the view alternaing between wilderness areas and small collections of nice homes.

I was just going with the flow. It was very relaxing, and yet still had the element of unpredictability, and thus adventure.

There were wild strawberries at every stop, and when I stopped for the night I feasted on them until the rain came. It rained all night, but I stayed dry in my garbage bag bivy sack (my dirtbagging shelter), with a small umbrella over my head. A large white-tail deer almost stepped on me in the middle of the night, and scared me half to death with his snorting. In the morning it was still raining.

It wasn't just raining, it was a wicked thunderstorm. One thing about a bivy sack is that you don't have enough space to keep yourself entertained. So, storm or not, it was time to get moving. I bundled up my few things, stepped into the cold river, and sat in the tube.

I drifted by beautiful houses, sitting there in a heavy sweater, with my umbrella over my head. The morning light was late because of the storm. People looked up from their coffee to see me in a flash of lightning. I waved and floated on.

Closer to home, I had a great time slogging through knee-deep mud in a portage around a dam. It was almost like quicksand. I worked my way free, and took a trail through the rainy woods along the river. By noon I was safely home and wondering if it was too early for a beer. That's dirtbagging.

Disc golf question, experienced players only please.?

So I have a pretty large disc bag and i usually carry a small backpack as well (for beers and what not). Now ive looked a lot of place and havent found what im looking for. I would like to find a bag in which i can carry beer (a soft cooler) and my discs as well eliminated my need to carry two bags. Have any of you seen such a thing? Im not sure they even exist.

If you want a good disc golf bag I would recommend a Revolution bag. They have lots of room for disc and any other things you might want to bring with you, ie beer. I have the Carolina Team Bag and it works great however I think for you the backpack would be perfect. They are a little expensive but I have had my bag for 3+ years and it is still good as new so they are very well made.

unless you are trying to play Pro-Am just pick up a driver, mid-range and putter. you don't need a bag with 15 discs. I hate when people are out on the course who are awful and are playing around with 50 different discs. I use only 3 and can beat 90% of people with a bag.

Football tailgating is in full swing. The grills are fired up and the coolers have their chilled beverages. Have you been to a tailgate party lately. If so you probably have noticed fans tossing square corn filled bags at an inverted board with a hole cut out at a distance of 25 feet or so. This game is called cornhole - the addictive game of choice before the football game. More and more fans are including a cornhole set as required equipment for tailgating fun before the game.

Are those bags really filled with corn. Some are some are not. Corn is the original material that was standard equipment when cornhole was just a game. I'm looking for disc golfers!?

My boyfriend is really into disc golf. The entire 2 years I've known him I've been trying to play and trying to actually compete ... I can't grasp it. I mean, I understand the object and everything, and I have my own bag and collection of discs, but I can never get it to fly right! I'm all right at putting and mid range I'm OK but driving, I suck! I'll really try to get the disc to go straight, but it'll go way right, or up. What's my malfunction?

I'll try and help you the best I can, but it's hard to critique somebody's throwing style without first seeing it. The fact that your disc is either going up or right leads me to believe that you're a: pulling the disc down to your lower side when you reach back and b: as a result of this, your release is not level, and likely not timed right. A third issue could be your grip. I can't really get into the details of grip in text, so here's a great video by Dave Feldberg demonstrating proper power grip technique:

After you've got a fundamentally sound grip, it's time to look at how you're actually throwing. In its simplest form, a throw should look something like this:

1. Grip the disc properly
2. Stand shoulder width apart with your dominant arm facing your target
3. Hold your arm out in front of you parallel to the ground and Ensure that you're not curling your wrist and arm around the disc.
4. Reach back with your arm as far as is comfortable.
5. Now comes the throwing part. You'll want to pull your arm across your chest. Don't pull it around your body.

"It's That Easy", Says Snapper Models

The snapper mower models are available from Snapper Inc. These models come in Walk behind, rear engine rider, zero turn mowers, lawn & garden tractors, rear tine tillers and the like. Walk behind models: These models come in easy speed and easy line series. The easy speed models incorporate the disc wheel drive that connects the engine power directly to the wheels so easy movement of the wheels. It is like 4-wheel drive for the lawn mower and the operation is very smooth. There are no clutches and the lawn mower purrs into action as soon as you start it.

The high wheel model comes with raised rear wheel of 12-inch diameter and 8 inch front wheels that are swiveled for easy action. Easy action seems to be the watchword in all the models of easy line series.

The mulching blower model incorporates patented Ninja Mulching system. The model churns out the cut grass by cutting and re-cutting into fine mulch that is then fed to the ground. The grass just disappears after being cut. The effect is good for grass growth.
