Have you ever passed a group of guys running around in the woods throwing Frisbees and wondered what the hell are these people doing? Well believe it or not they are playing a new and upcoming sport, Disk Golf. When I first learned of Disk golf I thought what is so fun about trampling threw the woods and playing with a Frisbee? Then I went for the first time and I have been an avid player for the past 7 years.

A friend of mine talked me into playing and I found that it was a tremendous workout, fun and best of all it was free! I went to a local sporting goods store spent $15 on a driver and a putter (different disks are designed for distances). The minute I entered the coarse the woods reeked of patchouli and I saw the hippies running ramped throwing Frisbees. The rules were simple just like regular golf. Most coerces all holes are par 3's, which means for you non-golfers that if you make it on the first throw it's an eagle (-2), second shot a birdie (-1), on the third shot it's a par (even), 4th shot is a bogey (+1), double bogey (+2), etc. There are 18 holes and each hole has a basket that you attempt to make your disk into. Keep track of your score after every hole. For example, if I shot a +1, even, +2, and a -1 on the first 4 holes than my score going into the 5th hole is a +2, which would be 2 over par.

The terrain depends on where you play because every coarse is different, but no matter the coarse you will get a great workout while having a blast. You're walking on flat terrain, rocky areas, up hills and down hills it's so much walking and tossing of the disk that you can burn 500 calories by the time you finish 18 holes! Another great part about this sport is that unlike football or basketball Disk Golf does not involve any running or physical contact, it's a sport for hippies and aging people like myself.

One last tip; don't get discouraged the first few times if you don't shoot so well just think about the 500 calories your burning and that almost every muscle in your body is being exercised while having fun, for free.

Is the sidearm throw in disc golf efficient?

I just started playing disc golf this year. I love the sport. My only problem is, i feel like I'm losing out when i throw sidearm (Very bad at overhand, and don't like the feel of it). I feel like my throws aren't as good as my friends who throw overhand, nor as accurate. Are sidearm throwers losing out?

It definitely has it's uses. The best thing would be to start out with what is most comfortable for you. Get good at that and then work on the other types of throws as you gain in experience. If you ever have a chance to play or watch some pros you will see that they do not stick to one particular type of shot and use backhand,sidearm,overhand and other types of throws.

When you play the game of cornhole there are many different terminologies that you might hear but not understand. It is important to understand the different terms that people may use so you can be hip on the game when you show up to the party. Here are a few terms that peoples use when tossing the cornhole bags.

You may have heard the terms air mail or swish in basketball when the ball is thrown and it doesn't touch the rim of the basketball hoop. When you throw the cornhole bags and they do not touch the board in any way this toss is also called the air mail and the swish. This is a great toss and one to stand proud of. When you score a swish or an air mail then you will get three points.

The ace or the cow pie are bags that only get you one point for the toss. When you throw the bag and it isn't anywhere near the hole on the board it is called the ace or the cow pie. This will only get you one point. You won't get a point if the bag is touching the ground in any way.

A slider is worth three points also. This type of cornhole toss is when you throw the bag and it slides across the board into the hole. This is usually considered a lucky shot but some people play this way. It is common for some throwers to toss the bag and intentionally slide the bag across the board into the hole.

The blocker is another term you may hear when you play the game of cornhole. This is an ace that lands directly in front of the holes on the cornhole boards. When someone throws a blocker it is only worth one point to you. However, the bag will not be moved from the board and it blocks everyone else's bags when it is their turn. The bag will not be removed and almost make it impossible to make a bag in the hole when you throw the bag with a blocker.

When you throw the cornhole bags at the cornhole boards there are many different terminologies you may hear when you play. These are important to know so you are not left out or you don't understand what the people are talking about. These terms include air mail or swish, ace, slider, and blocker.

Cantaloupe is one of the most powerful of all the super foods. A quarter of this fruit almost packs in a full daily dose of Vitamin A as well as the beta carotene needed for good vision and cataract prevention. But that is not all; cantaloupe also contains Vitamin C for your immune system and Vitamin B6, fiber, and potassium to reduce your risk of stroke, heart attack, and certain cancers.

Blueberries

Blueberries are yet another of the super foods that prevent many kinds of cancer because of the free radicals it contains. And their antioxidants will not only prevent against cataracts, but also glaucoma, heart disease, peptic ulcers, and varicose veins.

Tomatoes

Super foods such as tomatoes help us clot blood, and fight against the devastating diseases of breast cancer, lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, and heart disease because of its carotenoid lycopene. Other types of nutrients include Vitamins A, C, and K.

Sweet Potatoes

Sweet potatoes are one of the most delicious of the super foods, but taste is not its only benefit. Sweet potatoes have the ability to fight against emphysema, and they are chock full of vitamins and minerals - Vitamin A, C, and B6, manganese, fiber, copper, iron, and potassium.

Spinach, Broccoli, and Kale

Whole Grain Pasta, Rice, and Bread

Salmon

Salmon is one of the super foods that are great for the heart because it is a great source of protein and omega-3, but very little saturated fat. However, the salmon that you eat should come from the wild instead of a farm because farm raised salmon can have a carcinogenic called PCB that has been shown to cause cancer.

San Diego has one of the best climates and weather of any state in the US. It is typically sunny and in the 70's year round making it a great place to enjoy outdoor activities and sports. This article will look into some of the great outdoor activities available in San Diego. It will look into all kinds of outdoor activities and sports like hiking, mountain biking and rock climbing to going to kayak rental to do some Oceanside sea kayaking in the Pacific. Other things will be to do some fishing off a pier or see the migration of the gray whales. Whether you want to increase your heart rate through hard exercise, see amazing things in nature or get the thrill of a lifetime through an adrenaline pumping activity, it is all in San Diego to do.

For those people that love to be outdoors and have a great appreciation for nature but do not necessarily want to work up a sweat doing it, there are a few great things to do. One thing is to do Pier fishing. There are many long piers in California and San Diego is no exception. Just be sure to get a fishing permit first. Another fun thing to do is go whale watching. This area is one of the points where the gray whales go on their migration to Baja California where they give birth to their calves in the warmer water.

If you are looking to get some exercise and enjoy participating in some adventure type of sports and activities, then head to the nearby Mission Trails Regional Park. This is an urban park with that is enormous and has exciting mountain bike trails as well as wonderful hiking and rock climbing spots. If you are in good shape, test yourself by attempting to hike up Cowles Mountain for a breathtaking view at the top as your reward. Another fun sport that is not as physically challenging is to go to Morley Field Disc golf and let your frisbees fly on this great disc golf course.

If you are visiting San Diego and do not normally live near the water, you may want to participate in some water activities. They have a couple of surfing schools located here and some are specialized to teach just kids or women only providing those groups with a less intimidating experience to try to surf for the first time. Another fun activity is to rent a kayak and do some exploring of the area in that. If you have never gone sea kayaking, then you may want to take a class or go on a group tour to feel a bit more comfortable.

If you are an adrenaline junkie who also likes to do outdoorsy kind of activities, then maybe you want to head to the top of the cliffs that overlook the Pacific Ocean for a great thrill. You can go hang gliding or parasailing off some of the cliffs with a business that ensures your safety and fun.

Here in Asia, and I am in Hong Kong, there are some 8-10 tournaments in as many countries in the Asia Pacific. China has several teams, Philippines many, Thailand, Korea, Singapore, Jakarta, HK has 4,... The sport is of coure huge in all the world from college play to "Worlds" taking place in various parts of the worlds' countries with some 2000 strong players attending. i would like to see games recorded in YAHOO!
